Private instruction is great for people who are interested in meditation but are not sure where to start, have tried meditation and had difficulty sticking with it, or have a current practice that they would like to take deeper. Private instruction can lead to faster results, because the practices are tailored to you.

During your first session, Lisa will ask you about why you want to meditate.  She will want to understand your history in terms of trying to meditate previously, and what else is going on in your life that is making you want to develop a meditation practice. After talking, Lisa will provide personalized meditation instruction, followed by a 20-25 minute guided meditation practice.  Documentation, usually in the form of a recording, will also be provided. Typically, 1-3 private sessions will give you the tools you need to develop a regular meditation practice on your own.

Lisa is an experienced teacher who has honed her ability to make meditation accessible to everyone.  She is a firm believer in the effectiveness of basic meditation tools to help individuals develop a consistent practice that can expand over time.

Lisa McKenzie is a certified meditation instructor through Shambhava Yoga.  She began practicing meditation in 1998 and began teaching in 2008. Her background includes study and practice in classic eastern meditation, Zen, mindfulness, and chi-gong.  Lisa has studied in person with various teachers all over the country including Sri Shambhavananda of Shambhava Yoga, Adyashanti of Open Gate Sangha, Brandt Passalaqua of Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy, and Michael Winn of The Healing Tao.  Her greatest influence, however, is the time she spends in her own practice; from this place, an inner stability and composure have formed to become the foundation not only for her teaching, but also her life.
